Wonderful Worms!
Donna Mitts taught our 7th grade science students how to make a vermicomposting bin and how to care for the worms. In addition they learned worm anatomy and why worms are so critical to our soils. Worms are essential in creating nutrients for the soil which all of our plants need to grow. In the Hawaiian creation story the second creature to be created is the earthworm, for without them the world be void of so much life. Vermicomposting worms are different than earthworms but both are essential for life cycle processes of their environments. Donna Mitts is a life long agriculturalist who has been coming to share her mana`o about vermicomposting for many years now, we are so thankful! She helped each 7th grade class construct their own classroom worm bin! Wriggly wonderful worms, let’s check out some awesome pics!!!
