Sharing Harvest, Sharing Plants

As we approach the beginning of winter we are grateful for the bountiful harvests our students enjoyed this fall season and for the plethora of plants our students took home to for their own gardens. Crops harvested include leeks, guavas, kabocha, kale, radish’s, turnips, potatoes, carrots, green beans, glass gem popcorn, Fuyu persimmons and Olena (turmeric), to name a few! Beyond sharing the harvest from the garden with each other during snack time, some students took produce home to their families to share. While some of our other students have been very inter4eted in taking home seedlings to plant in their own yards and gardens. Some plants given to students include Mamaki, Sugar Magnolia Peas, Swiss Chard, Basil and more!

Over 300 pounds of crops and fruit were harvested and used for snacks or distributed to students' families this past quarter.

25 pounds of Tokyo turnips were one of many crops harvested and taken home by students.
