Gracious Grads

One of the most heartwarming things about Malaai is that it has the power to connect people beyond time and age. We are always honored when previous students come back to visit the garden and share their memories of how it helped change them. This year we were visited by returning students who were now graduating from Honoka`a High, for their grad pics! Caps and gowns and all, it was sweet and kind of them to come back and provide a powerful chant before entering the mala. Another awesome visit we had was from a student graduating from Kamehameha School who also attended Waimea Middle School. Jacob was a former lover of the garden and reached out to us to find out how he could get involved even after all this time. When he came to help out at one of our workdays he brought his partner with him and together they purchased harvest baskets, gloves, seeds and some tools for the garden. It was such an honest and pleasant gesture, it brought many warming feelings to our hearts. We hope you enjoy these photos of Mala`ai alumni!
