Fall Garden Update

We started this quarter off with a ton of class visits! Teachers from various subjects have been bringing their students out and utilizing the garden as a teaching space. See what our students have been up to.

  • Classes coming to the garden with their teachers include 6th grade science,7th grade science, ‘Ike Hawaii ( Hawaiian knowledge) ,6th,7th and exploratory writing, technology and businesses classes.

  • Students have been aiding in cultivation of beds through “chopping and dropping” the cover crops that protected and fed the garden beds over the summer.

  • Students planted carrots, leeks, tomatoes, kalo, swiss chard and kale, to name a few.

  • We will soon harvest kabocha squash, glass gem popcorn and pigeon peas that were planted last spring.

  • Partnered with 6th grade social studies for native and non-native plant lessons.
