Grinds From The Garden -Pilot Project

Marielle Hampton from UH CTAHR, led a 4 week long, “Grinds From The Garden '' program. This `Ohana based after school program focused on plant propagation and meal preparation from crops in the garden, including recipes to take home. The ending celebration was an amazing veggie, taco meal which was served to their `ohana in the garden! The families really enjoyed it, with parents of all participants joining in. We were even fortunate enough to have Tony Cootey, a Waimea Middle School parent and chef at the Mauna Lani, to join us the last class and teach the students about knife safety skills and cutting techniques. Definitely an awesome life time skill for our students to learn.
