20th Birthday Celebration
This spring Māla‘ai: The Culinary Garden of Waimea Middle School celebrated 20 years of educating keiki, caring for the aina and serving as a community resource. Mahalo nui loa to the thousands of hands that have helped us reach this incredible milestone! It would not be possible without our dedicated founders, staff, WMS admin & faculty, our volunteers, our board, our community and most importantly our haumana.
We celebrated with a variety of community oriented events that also sought to highlight the beauty of the work we do and the mala.
Luncheon with Les Dames D'Escoffier - A delicious local lunch buffet surrounded by the beauty of the Culinary Garden of Waimea Middle School. Featuring an Herb Simple Syrup activity and dishes prepared by some of the most talented and renowned female culinarians on our island.
Pā‘ina Ma Ka Māla - A fun-filled day at the māla with refreshments, activities, community and good conversation!
Garden Tours - We opened the garden to tours so that members of the community could learn about the work we do and how we serve the wider community!
Kimchi Workshop - Led by our Culinary Garden team, this workshop welcomed community members into the garden for a lesson on how to make the traditional Korean fermented super food, KIMCHI. Get the Recipe!
